Mountain lions.
Although a little more rare than your average snake, you can run into a mountain lion in the desert. They pose the biggest, and strongest threat, and can easily kill a coyote.
|
Rattlesnakes.
A common danger in the desert, and hard to spot; Thank goodness it has a rattle on the end of its tail to warn us! A bite from a rattlesnake can kill in a matter of a few hours, so be aware, and be cautious!
|
Heat exhaustion and dehydration.
Although rare for a desert-born coyote, heat exhaustion and dehydration still poses a threat. If you run for too long without drinking, you could be in trouble!
|
Rabies and other ailments.
Rabies is a fast working virus that basically makes the infected creature go crazy, and eventually die. Foaming at the mouth will occur, as well as erratic movements and heightened aggression. An infected animal can infect another animal by biting it.
Other ailments include eating bad meat and drinking from stagnant water; Bad bacteria is NOT your friend, and can be fatal! |
Humans.
Humans don't generally go out into the desert to hunt, but when they do, it's usually for the pelt of a beautiful animal, like the coyote. Remember: Coyotes are scared of humans, and will usually stay away from them. We will NOT go human hunting, sorry.
